My name is Farida Dowler and I am a musical storyteller in Seattle, Washington. I share folktales and play guitar to accompany traditional and original songs for toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarten age children along with their caregivers. Many of my favorite stories are humorous accounts of how characters with determination and generosity of spirit end up doing well for themselves. My folksongs invite participation among audience members. “Jenny Jenkins,” “Old Joe Clark” and “Hop Up Ladies” are perennial favorites.
I am available to perform at children's birthday parties, storytelling festivals and other venues in the Seattle area. Past performances include Kidfest at the Seattle Children's Museum, Winterfest at the Center House Stage, plus storytimes at Island Books and Third Place Books.
